I have something very vital to disclose with you, but I found it difficult to express myself here, since it's a public site.Could you please get back to me via my direct email(susanwalphonsus001@gmail.com) for more details. Have a nice day, Susan Wingfield Alphonsus.
P.S. I did find 'Destiny' for secondary school excellent, but that was almost 5 years ago, perhaps things have changed and there are better LMS out there now?!? Do some research by talking to your colleagues at the IB conference. Again, good luck!
Dear Yulia, I retired from librarianship in 2009 and since then have been associated with teacher training at the tertiary level. So I think you would do far better discussing this issue with someone still associated with IBTL service and training. Go to the ibo website and check out the teacher training section for your continent and area. Good luck. All the best, Julia
I am a librarian working at the British International school of Stavanger.I was looking for information about the IB standards for libraries in order to choose a new library management software for the Upper School and found your answers to the similar questions.
I am planning to attend the IB training for librarians. Would you be able to advise one?
In addition, we are using MLS (Junior Librarian) in the both libraries. We are interested in purchasing Eclipse or Destiny, but aren’t very sure about its suitability for the secondary school/IB students.
I will greatly appreciate if you lead me in the right direction.
Sincerely,
Yulia
I'm Mike McQueen, teacher librarian and founder of http://www.GettingBoysToRead.com. Like many school districts, we are in a financial crises. Our school board recently proposed to eliminate ALL 20+ middle school teacher librarians and also cut all 90+ elementary schools to half time. Since we are the biggest district in all of Colorado, we worry this will cause other districts to follow suit.
We launched an online movement and are going to do our best to put up a good fight. If possible, please visit our Facebook page and "Like" us http://www.facebook.com/SupportSchoolLibraries . Adding a positive comment and sharing with your friends would help our morale as well. The board finalizes the budget soon so your timely support would be greatly appreciated!
Sincerely,
Mike McQueen Teacher Librarian at McLain HS Lakewood, CO
Hi Julia,
I'm a teacher librarian & recently started a community based blog for getting boys to read - http://GettingBoysToRead.com. Please send me a friend request if you'd like to network, share ideas, and learn more about getting boys to read.
Hi Julia,
I'm at an IBMYP 6-8 school in Alexandria, VA. We've been IB since 2003. We've had a fun time with collection deveopment. I don't want to have simply "the classics" translated into language B. We have been working hard to develop an authentic international collection. Love to share ideas with you.
Hi Julia,
Glad to see someone from Ontario. I see by your profile you are at a French school. Is it an immersion one?
I am teacher-librarian at a French immersion 7-9 school. In fact, this will be my first year at the school and am finding it difficult to find teenage French fiction written at a low level.
