Greetings Pat,
I'm Mike McQueen, teacher librarian and founder of http://www.GettingBoysToRead.com. Like many school districts, we are in a financial crises. Our school board recently proposed to eliminate ALL 20+ middle school teacher librarians and also cut all 90+ elementary schools to half time. Since we are the biggest district in all of Colorado, we worry this will cause other districts to follow suit. We launched an online movement and are going to do our best to put up a good fight.
If possible, please visit our Facebook page and "Like" us http://www.facebook.com/SupportSchoolLibraries . Adding a positive comment and sharing with your friends would help our morale as well. The board finalizes the budget soon so your timely support would be greatly appreciated!
Sincerely,
Mike McQueen

Hi. ...Look forward to talking with you. I posted the following on TeacherLibrarian.ning.com (http://teacherlibrarian.ning.com ) in response to the message that follows my response:
Hi. Have you ever consider open source for the school library?
Nicole E. Engard (Open Source Evangelist, LibLime): Serials Management in KOHA’s open source library software. The presentation will help you understand what open source is all about and show you how the Koha Open Source Automation system can not only handle formats like serials in the library catalog, but provide better services to patrons.

Hi everyone,
We are in the process of changing our library’s online catalogue. At this point, we have been using Athena (Sagebrush/Follett product) for about 10 years. Unfortunately, our catalogue is not web based and the program will no longer be updated or supported (tech support). We need to move on. Could you tell me which OPAC you are using and if you are happy with it?
We have been looking at Destiny.
Thanks,
Pat
