  • Greetings Sara,

I'm Mike McQueen, teacher librarian and founder of http://www.GettingBoysToRead.com. Like many school districts, we are in a financial crises. Our school board recently proposed to eliminate ALL 20+ middle school teacher librarians and also cut all 90+ elementary schools to half time. Since we are the biggest district in all of Colorado, we worry this will cause other districts to follow suit.

We launched an online movement and are going to do our best to put up a good fight. If possible, please visit our Facebook page and "Like" us http://www.facebook.com/SupportSchoolLibraries . Adding a positive comment and sharing with your friends would help our morale as well. The board finalizes the budget soon so your timely support would be greatly appreciated!

    Sincerely,

    Mike McQueen

  • Hi Sara,

  • Thanks for asking!
  • Thanks Sara
I tried to make it funny and informative....something kids could enjoy and learn from too...K
  • I sure like your take, Dennis. I have never done the same year twice in my loooooooong career. There's always something new and challenging that can make a difference for kids---and I still love having the "right book for the right kid" experience. Libraries are all about literacy--all of 'em!
  • The overlap is a place for some interesting blogging. I'm reminded of the story about how one arrow is easy to break, but a bundle can't be broken. We'll all keep working for the vision. For my money, library media remains the heat beat for revolutionary learning technology integration.

  • Sara, you'll be working on the cutting edge. Information Fluency is deeply embedded in the refreshed NETS for students that will be announced at NECC next month. Combining Information Power Standards, NETS and the materials we're developing at 21CIF gives you a running start on an ambitious project.

Are you looking at integrating instruction into the classroom?
