  • Greetings!!!

I'm Mike McQueen, teacher librarian and founder of http://www.GettingBoysToRead.com. Like many school districts, we are in a financial crises. Our school board recently proposed to eliminate ALL 20+ middle school teacher librarians and also cut all 90+ elementary schools to half time. Since we are the biggest district in all of Colorado, we worry this will cause other districts to follow suit. We launched an online movement and are going to do our best to put up a good fight.

If possible, please visit our Facebook page and "Like" us http://www.facebook.com/SupportSchoolLibraries . Adding a positive comment and sharing with your friends would help our morale as well. The board finalizes the budget soon so your timely support would be greatly appreciated!

    Sincerely,

    Mike McQueen

  • Anna,
Whenever I think of Petaluma I think of the Peanuts comic from the 60s, when Snoopy was going to go to the Arm Wrestling Championship. It showed him a few times think "Petaluma?" to himself. One time he thinks to himself "There is fear and trembling in Petaluma tonight." I have often thought of that whenever I was in a scary situation. Alas for poor Snoopy, he was disqualified for not having thumbs.
  • Anna, My retirement papers are to be filed by the 22nd of February. That's a week from this Friday. I don't know when they'll fly the position--probably soon after I file. I would love to have you come and visit our school. Give me some dates that would work for you. There is so much to talk about. Bottom line: Casa is a wonderful school with great students, staff, and admin. Our community is very supportive of the libraries, both school and public, which goes a long way to making this a most enjoyable position. I've loved working here. Hope all is well.
    -Susan
  • Hey Anna, That's me at the top of Wild Rose Peak in Death Valley. The picture was taken the summer before last. I made it "official" last week. I'm done in June. Anytime you want to come visit--let me know. When is your spring break? Mine is the last week in March. -Susan
  • Believe me--you are much better off listening to Michael Cart. I love to go see him speak anytime that he is town. Thanks for connecting me to this website. It looks like it has great potential--hope all is going well with you.
  • Love your quotes! This is "Lucy" my dog. She's prettier in pictures than I am... -Connie
