Name of Your School / Library / Organization:
Previously in my career, I taught language arts and social studies in New Orleans, Louisiana. After a few years, I decided to pursue my dream and become a school librarian. So, I went back to school and became a middle school librarian in a New Orleans public school setting. Recently, I've relocated to the Windy City of Chicago and have joined Heinemann-Raintree as library product manager. As library product manager, I oversee several online features such as the Heinemann-Raintree Weed of the Month and the Heinemann-Raintree Ask a Librarian service. I love children's and young adult literature. My life rules are simple: Giggle and smile often, enjoy good friends and good food, and listen to at least one Elvis song each day.

Greetings J.J,
I'm Mike McQueen, teacher librarian and founder of http://www.GettingBoysToRead.com. Like many school districts, we are in a financial crises. Our school board recently proposed to eliminate ALL 20+ middle school teacher librarians and also cut all 90+ elementary schools to half time. Since we are the biggest district in all of Colorado, we worry this will cause other districts to follow suit.
We launched an online movement and are going to do our best to put up a good fight. If possible, please visit our Facebook page and "Like" us http://www.facebook.com/SupportSchoolLibraries . Adding a positive comment and sharing with your friends would help our morale as well. The board finalizes the budget soon so your timely support would be greatly appreciated!
Sincerely,
Mike McQueen
