Name of Your School / Library / Organization:
I am a HS librarian in the East Greenbush school district and have been since the fall of 2010. Previously I have been an elementary librarian here in this district at two of the schools, Genet and DPS. I briefly worked at Red Mill elementary and one year at Goff MS. Before transferring to East Greenbush I was a librarian and a teacher at Ichabod Crane Central School in Kinderhook, NY for 17 yrs. I'm finally getting into the age of the eReaders having purchased Kindles and a Nook for our library. Personally, I own a Nook Tablet. Reading in this format is here to stay so we all might as well get used to it. When not at work I can be found experimenting in the kitchen, reading or riding on the back of a Harley.

Greetings Deborah,
I'm Mike McQueen, teacher librarian and founder of http://www.GettingBoysToRead.com. Like many school districts, we are in a financial crises. Our school board recently proposed to eliminate ALL 20+ middle school teacher librarians and also cut all 90+ elementary schools to half time. Since we are the biggest district in all of Colorado, we worry this will cause other districts to follow suit.
We launched an online movement and are going to do our best to put up a good fight. If possible, please visit our Facebook page and "Like" us http://www.facebook.com/SupportSchoolLibraries. Adding a positive comment and sharing with your friends would help our morale as well. The board finalizes the budget soon so your timely support would be greatly appreciated!
Sincerely,
Mike McQueen
