  • Greetings Alanna,

I'm Mike McQueen, teacher librarian and founder of http://www.GettingBoysToRead.com. Like many school districts, we are in a financial crises. Our school board recently proposed to eliminate ALL 20+ middle school teacher librarians and also cut all 90+ elementary schools to half time. Since we are the biggest district in all of Colorado, we worry this will cause other districts to follow suit. We launched an online movement and are going to do our best to put up a good fight. If possible, please visit our Facebook page and "Like" us http://www.facebook.com/SupportSchoolLibraries . Adding a positive comment and sharing with your friends would help our morale as well. The board finalizes the budget soon so your timely support would be greatly appreciated!

    Sincerely,

    Mike McQueen

  • Hi Josie,  Sorry about responding so late.  I consider myself an artist, but not necessarily in one medium.  Let's just say that my creativity has no bounds.  Where can I find your poems?  I hope your trip to Costa Rica was nice.  I really like the photos you've posted so far.  Thank you for introducing yourself.

  • Hi Alanna - Nice to meet you.  Oh I've just been to your website:  Adventures in technology?  Interesting!  I'm going on two adventures this week:  Today I am going  to Dover Elementary School, Delaware to visit a class of children and tomorrow I'm off to Costa Rica to meet 63 children - so this is my adventure in technology.  I'm a children's poet and they're studying my poems.  I couldn't have imagined such an adventure when I was a girl, for I am a granny now.  I would have thought it was in the realms of science fiction, but it isn't.  When you say that "my artist keeps getting in the way" are you an artist?  If so, I really envy you.  Best wishes and make lots of friends on this website.  Josie Whitehead
