I won an essay contest, "How Laura Ingalls Wilder Influenced My Life," and took a long-hoped-for trip to Pepin, Wisconsin, to fetch the prize. I told stories around the evening campfire, taught a dance to a "Buffalo Gals" fiddle tune, and toured a model of the "Little House in the Big Woods" with my Charlotte rag doll reproduction.

I loved Wisconsin. After Laura Ingalls Wilder Days in Pepin, WI, we all sat around the campfire and told stories and sang. Bliss!
