Name of Your School / Library / Organization:
Hi Everyone- I am the K-12 Teacher Librarian at the International School-Yangon in Myanmar (formerly Burma). I have been teaching overseas for the past 19 years including Addis Ababa, Cairo, Rabat, Islamabad and Johannesburg. Since being the only TL at my school can be rather isolating at times, I look forward to keeping connected with other TL's around the world. Michelle

Greetings Michelle,
I'm Mike McQueen, teacher librarian and founder of http://www.GettingBoysToRead.com. Like many school districts, we are in a financial crises. Our school board recently proposed to eliminate ALL 20+ middle school teacher librarians and also cut all 90+ elementary schools to half time. Since we are the biggest district in all of Colorado, we worry this will cause other districts to follow suit. We launched an online movement and are going to do our best to put up a good fight. If possible, please visit our Facebook page and "Like" us http://www.facebook.com/SupportSchoolLibraries . Adding a positive comment and sharing with your friends would help our morale as well. The board finalizes the budget soon so your timely support would be greatly appreciated!
Sincerely,
Mike McQueen

Maybe we met at a conference sometime recently? My husband and I traveled to Myanmar during Chinese New Year. What an amazing place! Are you at the school where Ruth Volz worked? How do you like living there?

I'm so impressed with this group. 19 years overseas is pretty amazing. I hope to go myself in a couple of years. I have a 15 and 17 year old so I'd either need to take them or get them situated at colleges here. Thanks for the info. and I'll check out the job listings.
