  Greetings Heather,

  I'm Mike McQueen, teacher librarian and founder of http://www.GettingBoysToRead.com. Like many school districts, we are in a financial crises. Our school board recently proposed to eliminate ALL 20+ middle school teacher librarians and also cut all 90+ elementary schools to half time. Since we are the biggest district in all of Colorado, we worry this will cause other districts to follow suit. We launched an online movement and are going to do our best to put up a good fight.

  hi Heather,
  I checked out your blog and loved it. Great opening comic this week. I like all the add-ons on the side, too. I don't have as many to choose from on a standard WordPress blog so I'm jealous.
  
  I promise you that no other course has ever been as overwhelming as this one. Wasn't it tough getting the last few posts done and the questions? Way too much for me! What have you signed up for next term?
  
  Yes, I'll be at the MSLA's SAG this year. After all this Web 2.0 stuff, a quiet day of authors will seem quite heavenly, don't you think.

  I can't believe that this course is your first. I have never worked harder and I commend you for sticking it out. I already knew how to use many of the tools beforehand so I wasn't worried but the number of posts and questions has been relentless. Next term I'm taking a collections course. I wish I had taken it before Pembina Trails libraries were all given generous grants last year. Wow, that was a crazy time! I've actually enjoyed all the courses in the program. All of them has been very applicable to my job and have prepared me well. The literature and graphic novel courses were probably the most enjoyable. I really enjoyed meeting a lot of new people in the library world through the courses.
  
  Chantel, Nell and I were the first to set up the MYRCA blog. We look forward to having your students join in. To make the posts more meaningful (i.e. complex) this year, I decided to ask my students to not only say what they think about a book but to ask a question. This has really improved the conversational aspect of the blog.
  
  Off to begin my third-last post! Doug Johnson commented on my last one so I'm pumped!

  Heather,
  I amazed at how this whole Web 2.0 thing makes the world seem like a smaller place. I'm originally a band teacher and still teach two sections of band but now I'm also a .75 teacher-librarian. I job shadowed Nell Ududec about 5 years ago and decided that I wanted to become a teacher-librarian as well. That's when I got started at the U. of A. Are you taking any courses right now? This Web 2.0 course has been the heaviest so far. I'm looking forward to completing my diploma in teacher-librarianship in April.
  
  Good luck in your quest to become a teacher-librarian. What division do you currently teach in?

  That sounds like a plan, Heather. I don't know if I have already mentioned that our team from LRSD is actually in charge of the catering for SAG, so look for me setting up the coffee stations!

  Hi Heather!
  Yes, I am taking full advantage of our extension this week too! The past two weeks have been so eye-opening for me in regards to what is out there for us to use. I had never heard of Jumpcut or Voicethread before last week and now I am learning about Nings! I have only just begun exploring this site and am in love with it! Truly, it is doing what Facebookers can only dream of. There are many groups for teachers and librarians on Facebook, but this seems to go way beyond what FB can do. Do you find that you join groups on FB and end up forgetting that you are a member of that group? I doubt that I will forget about this Ning! So many useful discussions going on. Anyway, enjoy your extension and I'll talk to you soon!
