I truly loved to be part of the TL community. After getting the necessary B Ed Credits and transcripts accreditations I am now in charge of a class at my school; hoping we are getting soon another Teacher Librarian, now it's just a Library in the sense of no Library classes... just borrowing place :-( Missing the Library life for sure... but I had to take the chance and the challenge this time.     Greetings Addy,

    I'm Mike McQueen, teacher librarian and founder of http://www.GettingBoysToRead.com. Like many school districts, we are in a financial crises. Our school board recently proposed to eliminate ALL 20+ middle school teacher librarians and also cut all 90+ elementary schools to half time. Since we are the biggest district in all of Colorado, we worry this will cause other districts to follow suit. We launched an online movement and are going to do our best to put up a good fight.     Hi Addy
    It is a problem - not least because there isn't the range of books available in the local book shops, so the library becomes a book shop too! We charge a high fee for lost books, to discourage students from holding on to them. This year for the first time we will withhold report cards of those students who have not returned their books, nor paid the replacement fee, so it will be interesting to see if that makes a difference.

    Hi Mike!
    I loved your blog to encourage boys reading and I wrote my opinion there. I am afraid I am an old fashioned Librarian, although I don’t look like one , but I am looking forward to some innovative ideas. Thanks for sharing!
