Copyright friendly image list

"My" teachers have been complaining about not having access to high-quality images without scrounging around for hours on the web. So I put together this wiki of copyright-friendly image sources. Also a long list of historical political cartoons, which the history teachers appreciate. Feel free to use it! Or add anything! password is opensesame4

Beta Test for Yahoo

The new job has really usurped all the time I was spending blogging and reading on the web. I'm slowly starting to get back into the swing of things, though.

Just a head's up for anyone who is interested. Yahoo is looking for beta-testers for some super-secret new tool they're working on. I was a beta-test for the new Search Assist tool they use; it was fun and didn't take much time. Anyway, they want more librarians, so if you're intersted, here's the link.…

Blatant Self Promotion!

If I can advertise myself a bit. I'm currently doing a series on creating documentaries in the classroom over on my blog. I provide a link to ALL my handouts, which should be a good resource to give your teachers.

Actually, on second thought, I'll just upload them here, (one of those Duh! moments!). Still, the blog posts give detail/background, and are too long to cross post, so I hope you'll check it out!

Beyond Blogs and Wikis: Online Tools for Collaboration

I just wrote a post on my blog talking about some great online collaboration tools I've found, that I think will work very well for students doing group research projects. Would be very interested to hear your comments/thoughts.

Great Resources/Websites

I've been collecting online resources and sharing them with students in my info lit class. It occurred to me today they might be useful for people on the Ning, too. Though I'm sure you already know many of them. Anyway, here they are, if you're interested!

Greetings Jeri,

I'm Mike McQueen, teacher librarian and founder of http://www.GettingBoysToRead.com. Like many school districts, we are in a financial crises. Our school board recently proposed to eliminate ALL 20+ middle school teacher librarians and also cut all 90+ elementary schools to half time. Since we are the biggest district in all of Colorado, we worry this will cause other districts to follow suit. We launched an online movement and are going to do our best to put up a good fight.

If possible, please visit our Facebook page and "Like" us http://www.facebook.com/SupportSchoolLibraries . Adding a positive comment and sharing with your friends would help our morale as well. The board finalizes the budget soon so your timely support would be greatly appreciated!

Sincerely,

Mike McQueen

Hi Jeri,
Hope all is going well in your new school and your new job. I remember when I switched from elem. to a position as a high school librarian and felt as though I had really jumped in at the deep end. Anyway just wanted you to know I've been missing your blog posts but understand why that's not something you have time for just now!

Dear Jeri,
It's great to have you as a member of the BCC Group. Your technological expertise is a great entree into collaboration with classroom teacher colleagues.
Best,
Judi
What a sweet-looking camel!
