I am in my first year as the coordinator of information & technology literacy in Westport, CT. Prior to this I was the elementary library media specialist at Greens Farms Elementary School in Westport foir 6 years. Before that I was the Supervisor of Library Media in the New Haven, CT school district for 7 years. We were fortunate to be part of the DeWitt-Wallace Readers Digest National Library Power program with lots of support and help from AASL and our local Public Education Fund.
I have something very vital to disclose with you, but I found it difficult to express myself here, since it's a public site.Could you please get back to me via my direct email(firstname.lastname@example.org) for more details. Have a nice day, Susan Wingfield Alphonsus.
I'm Mike McQueen, teacher librarian and founder of http://www.GettingBoysToRead.com. Like many school districts, we are in a financial crises. Our school board recently proposed to eliminate ALL 20+ middle school teacher librarians and also cut all 90+ elementary schools to half time. Since we are the biggest district in all of Colorado, we worry this will cause other districts to follow suit.
We launched an online movement and are going to do our best to put up a good fight. If possible, please visit our Facebook page and "Like" us http://www.facebook.com/SupportSchoolLibraries . Adding a positive comment and sharing with your friends would help our morale as well. The board finalizes the budget soon so your timely support would be greatly appreciated!
