FREE audiobooks all summer long

Check this out.

YALSA division of ALA is promoting a program to give away free downloads of two audiobooks each week this summer. There are great titles including The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. A new YA title is paired with a classic each week.

Greetings Patty,

I'm Mike McQueen, teacher librarian and founder of Like many school districts, we are in a financial crises. Our school board recently proposed to eliminate ALL 20+ middle school teacher librarians and also cut all 90+ elementary schools to half time. Since we are the biggest district in all of Colorado, we worry this will cause other districts to follow suit. We launched an online movement and are going to do our best to put up a good fight. If possible, please visit our Facebook page and "Like" us . Adding a positive comment and sharing with your friends would help our morale as well. The board finalizes the budget soon so your timely support would be greatly appreciated!

I have been booktalking to reluctant readers for the last 7 years! It was one of the main responsibilities when I came. There are 3 Reading teachers in our school of 2,000 kids and they come into the library or I go to their classes with a cart of books and booktalk Mysteries, Realtistic Fiction, Historical Fiction and Mutlitcultural Fiction. I spend my summer reading lots of books so when I go back, I have new ones to add to the others I have read! The kids can't believe I have read that much--but I love it.
