This is my second year as the LMS at Eastampton K-8 school in Eastampton, NJ, serving 700 students. I love technology and have been working with the curriculum director to introduce document cameras, air slates, and Convey clicker systems to our school. We just set up our own school wide Ning and are in the process of rolling it out to the faculty and staff. I will be presenting a workshop at NJSAL in Nov on Organizational skills in the library! This is my first year as the 5th & 6th grade BOB coach. We have a record turn out and I am looking for strategies to help prepare my students.

Greetings Monica,
I'm Mike McQueen, teacher librarian and founder of http://www.GettingBoysToRead.com. Like many school districts, we are in a financial crises. Our school board recently proposed to eliminate ALL 20+ middle school teacher librarians and also cut all 90+ elementary schools to half time. Since we are the biggest district in all of Colorado, we worry this will cause other districts to follow suit. We launched an online movement and are going to do our best to put up a good fight. If possible, please visit our Facebook page and "Like" us http://www.facebook.com/SupportSchoolLibraries . Adding a positive comment and sharing with your friends would help our morale as well. The board finalizes the budget soon so your timely support would be greatly appreciated!
Sincerely,
Mike McQueen

I wanted to let you know that MIT university is running a nationwide, online contest to get teens to teach other SAT/ACT vocabulary through the power of user-generated flashcards. The goal is to build a resource that is free and fun to use.
There will be a cash prize at the end and iTunes giveaways along the way. The event is hosted at Brainyflix.com.
If you know of any 8th grade teachers/students who'd be interested, please let them know! Full details are here
Thanks,
Jack
