After 21 years of teaching Language Arts in high School and middle school, this is my first year working as a teacher-librarian in a high school. This is such a boring "About Me" that I thought I'd spice it up a bit-- Now that I've been in my position for 5 months, it's time to look into a Masters program that will develop the skills I need for the library. I'm looking into a "hybrid" program that will combine on-site and on-line classes. I think I work better in a regular classroom setting. I love my new job and want to learn new ways to help our students utilize the materials we have in our library as well as to maximize their use of web resources. In my personal life, I have been married to a beautiful woman for 25 years and have two children, my son attends CU and my daughter is a junior in high school. I'm very proud of both of them.

    Greetings Mike,

    I'm Mike McQueen, teacher librarian and founder of http://www.GettingBoysToRead.com. Like many school districts, we are in a financial crises. Our school board recently proposed to eliminate ALL 20+ middle school teacher librarians and also cut all 90+ elementary schools to half time. Since we are the biggest district in all of Colorado, we worry this will cause other districts to follow suit. We launched an online movement and are going to do our best to put up a good fight.
