Name of Your School / Library / Organization:
I am school librarian back in the Philippines and fortunate enough to work and live here in United States and serve at Prince George's County Public Schools in Maryland. I am a teacher-librarian for eight years and loving it. I chose the course Library and Information Science indecisively when I entered college. I never knew that I would be as lucky as I am now without this wonderful job. I have been a member of this network for a long time and decided to update myself and gather information from school librarians like me who serves students wholeheartedly like their classroom teacher. It's been a challenge for teacher librarians like me to incalculcate the value of books and library in students lives. This challenge helped me to strive for more and continuously make efforts on how students love reading and teachers collaborative support.

Greetings Mary Jane,
I'm Mike McQueen, teacher librarian and founder of http://www.GettingBoysToRead.com. Like many school districts, we are in a financial crises. Our school board recently proposed to eliminate ALL 20+ middle school teacher librarians and also cut all 90+ elementary schools to half time. Since we are the biggest district in all of Colorado, we worry this will cause other districts to follow suit. We launched an online movement and are going to do our best to put up a good fight.
If possible, please visit our Facebook page and "Like" us http://www.facebook.com/SupportSchoolLibraries . Adding a positive comment and sharing with your friends would help our morale as well. The board finalizes the budget soon so your timely support would be greatly appreciated!
Sincerely,
Mike McQueen
