Name of Your School / Library / Organization:

I am the district coordinator for library and information technology services for the Billerica Public Schools. We are a suburban district, about 25 minutes north of Boston. I just completed the Web 2.0 online course through the Mass School Library Association. I have added all of these great tools to my library/technology/information literacy tool box and hope to incorporate much of this into an updated technology curriculum for our district. Web 2.0 is one of our current professional development courses in the district, so there are teachers and librarians who have become a cohort of Web 2.0 literacy. Great start!

  • Greetings Marianne,

I'm Mike McQueen, teacher librarian and founder of http://www.GettingBoysToRead.com. Like many school districts, we are in a financial crises. Our school board recently proposed to eliminate ALL 20+ middle school teacher librarians and also cut all 90+ elementary schools to half time. Since we are the biggest district in all of Colorado, we worry this will cause other districts to follow suit. We launched an online movement and are going to do our best to put up a good fight.

If possible, please visit our Facebook page and "Like" us http://www.facebook.com/SupportSchoolLibraries . Adding a positive comment and sharing with your friends would help our morale as well. The board finalizes the budget soon so your timely support would be greatly appreciated!

    Sincerely,

    Mike McQueen

  • Well, since I haven't explored any of the resources, I think can only add that this looks like a source that I would use if I had a specific issue I wanted information about. I don't look at it as a browsing or information tool unless you are focusing on something specific.
  • Nice.
