Originally from Tacoma, Wa, I taught English there for 11 years before moving overseas and teaching in Turkey and Egypt for 10 years. Now I'm back in the States, but on the other coast, which is almost like being in a foreign country for me! Once I've finished my library degree at Pitt, I start a new job in Connecticut, where I'll be the 6-12 Librarian, heavily involved in technology integration.

Greetings Jeri,
I'm Mike McQueen, teacher librarian and founder of http://www.GettingBoysToRead.com. Like many school districts, we are in a financial crises. Our school board recently proposed to eliminate ALL 20+ middle school teacher librarians and also cut all 90+ elementary schools to half time. Since we are the biggest district in all of Colorado, we worry this will cause other districts to follow suit. We launched an online movement and are going to do our best to put up a good fight.
If possible, please visit our Facebook page and "Like" us http://www.facebook.com/SupportSchoolLibraries . Adding a positive comment and sharing with your friends would help our morale as well. The board finalizes the budget soon so your timely support would be greatly appreciated!
Sincerely,
Mike McQueen

Hope all is going well in your new school and your new job. I remember when I switched from elem. to a position as a high school librarian and felt as though I had really jumped in at the deep end. Anyway just wanted you to know I've been missing your blog posts but understand why that's not something you have time for just now!
I do have a Mac at work and an iBook I can bring home so am looking forward to playing with Skitch.
Did you get the comment I left on your blog about Web in the Classroom?
Cheers,
Lesley
Toondo is so much fun to play with.
It's great to have you as a member of the BCC Group. Your technological expertise is a great entree into collaboration with classroom teacher colleagues.
Best,
Judi
What a sweet-looking camel!
