I have always loved reading. It is my greatest passion in life. When the other children began dating, I would be at home, stroking the spines of my favorite old novels. My twin, patty, and my new young friend, Gloria all share these characteristics. We have numerous tea parties in Gloria's scenic Kentucky home. While sipping our tea, we giggle and prod about in the meaningful plots of the books we are reading. We would never change our habits for anyone or anything. In our youth, Patty and I were rebels. Gloria reminds us so much of our young selves, and that is why we love her so dearly. Our rebellious selves really rate hot tunes, such as Vivaldi, Beethoven, and Slayer. We listen to these thought-provoking prodigies at our tea parties, and we kind of twitch along to the beat. So...why, you might ask, am I a librarian if I also like tea, music, and my gals. The answer is simple. I want to spread my message to all these horrific young teenagers that sit around on their computers all day long and watch tv, and play video games, that nothing will become of them if they do not stroke spines like I do. These provocative little girls are just sitting there with their webcameras, without an intelligent thought going through their fragile little minds, and they still don't know the fiery passions that reading can bring you. I also would like to get boys to read, because they are always exercising and they should lay down and read. My friends and I have many unique methods for getting young boys to read. :-) Thank you for taking the time to read my little biography. I think I shall go have a lie-down now, and then some crumpets. :-) Gloria and Patty should be getting accounts on this website shortly.

Greetings Gertrude,
I'm Mike McQueen, teacher librarian and founder of http://www.GettingBoysToRead.com. Like many school districts, we are in a financial crises. Our school board recently proposed to eliminate ALL 20+ middle school teacher librarians and also cut all 90+ elementary schools to half time. Since we are the biggest district in all of Colorado, we worry this will cause other districts to follow suit. We launched an online movement and are going to do our best to put up a good fight. If possible, please visit our Facebook page and "Like" us http://www.facebook.com/SupportSchoolLibraries . Adding a positive comment and sharing with your friends would help our morale as well. The board finalizes the budget soon so your timely support would be greatly appreciated!
Sincerely,
Mike McQueen
