Name of Your School / Library / Organization:

I have been a librarian in my present school for nearly 23 years. The school is small, 500 on roll, aged 11-16. It is an innercity school in terms of ethnic mix. We are currently away from our own site while they rebuild, and my library is even smaller than on the old site. However, when we move back the library will be appreciably bigger.

  • Hi Elizabeth, I will be in London for the google teachers academy the first week of April and would like to visit a tech savvy school in the area to share ideas. At least one other attendee at GTA has expressed an interest in doing the same. Is your school open on the first or second? Do you know of any schools in the area that are tech savvy and might be open?

Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated, thanks,Jen
  • Greetings Elizabeth,

I'm Mike McQueen, teacher librarian and founder of http://www.GettingBoysToRead.com. Like many school districts, we are in a financial crises. Our school board recently proposed to eliminate ALL 20+ middle school teacher librarians and also cut all 90+ elementary schools to half time. Since we are the biggest district in all of Colorado, we worry this will cause other districts to follow suit. We launched an online movement and are going to do our best to put up a good fight.

If possible, please visit our Facebook page and "Like" us http://www.facebook.com/SupportSchoolLibraries . Adding a positive comment and sharing with your friends would help our morale as well. The board finalizes the budget soon so your timely support would be greatly appreciated!

    Sincerely,

    Mike McQueen
