  Greetings Drew,

  I'm Mike McQueen, teacher librarian and founder of http://www.GettingBoysToRead.com. Like many school districts, we are in a financial crises. Our school board recently proposed to eliminate ALL 20+ middle school teacher librarians and also cut all 90+ elementary schools to half time. Since we are the biggest district in all of Colorado, we worry this will cause other districts to follow suit. We launched an online movement and are going to do our best to put up a good fight.   Hi Drew - nice to hear from you! When did you attend ASD? Have you seen photos of the new campus? ASD is beautiful and the library is the best part!
  
  I am happy to answer any questions. My husband and I have been overseas for about 20 years. I taught art, humanities and home ec. before deciding to get my MLIS from Univ. Wisc-Milwaukee. I was a librarian at Taipei American School for nine years before coming to ASD.
  I agree the certification isn't necessary, but I think classroom experience is helpful. Librarians are in demand overseas so I would definitely encourage you to think about it. Feel free to contact me with more questions at my ASD address: kpatterson@asd.edu.qa
