I have worked as a Library Manager at Walden School for about 10 years. The school is a small private elementary (Pre-K through 6th) with about 250 students. The library has about 9,000 books (and a few video tapes, audio tapes, etc.). I am interested in learning more about technology, both upcoming and tried and true. I have a BS in Computer Science from 1980 and an MS in Educational Technology from 1997. I worked in aerospace for years (defense contracts and NASA space missions), but my knowledge of technology is out of date. I have grown less and less willing to wade through every new innovation and am glad to benefit from others reviews and insights. I am also interested in ideas on efficiently maintaining a school library and on working collaboratively with teachers. I have a passion for environmental issues as well.

I'm Mike McQueen, teacher librarian and founder of http://www.GettingBoysToRead.com. Like many school districts, we are in a financial crises. Our school board recently proposed to eliminate ALL 20+ middle school teacher librarians and also cut all 90+ elementary schools to half time. Since we are the biggest district in all of Colorado, we worry this will cause other districts to follow suit. We launched an online movement and are going to do our best to put up a good fight.
