  • Greetings Ana,

I'm Mike McQueen, teacher librarian and founder of http://www.GettingBoysToRead.com. Like many school districts, we are in a financial crises. Our school board recently proposed to eliminate ALL 20+ middle school teacher librarians and also cut all 90+ elementary schools to half time. Since we are the biggest district in all of Colorado, we worry this will cause other districts to follow suit. We launched an online movement and are going to do our best to put up a good fight. If possible, please visit our Facebook page and "Like" us http://www.facebook.com/SupportSchoolLibraries . Adding a positive comment and sharing with your friends would help our morale as well. The board finalizes the budget soon so your timely support would be greatly appreciated!

    Sincerely,

    Mike McQueen

  • Hi,
I’m the blogger at “J. Aday Kennedy: A Writing Playground”. Every month I focus on a topic to help authors write and promote their writing. In April, the focus will be books and why they’re selected by librarians, and how they’re chosen and used by teachers and homeschoolers..
I was roaming the TeacherLibrarian Network and came across you. I think you can give some insight into the types of books that interest students and schools. Would you be willing to be interviewed? If so, email me at author@jadaykennedy.com. I hope I hear from you soon.
    Blessings,

  • Congrats Ana on graduating in May! I graduated last May and boy does time fly! I can't believe I've been working for almost a year. I too am still involved in the job search since I am looking for a full-time position. My current job is part-time and although I love it, I really need full-time so I've been doing the resume thing too! Not too many jobs out there for SLMS, at least on Long Island there isn't. Best of luck to you!
