I'm wondering what sources you use for evaluating books that focus on cultures with which you are not familiar. How do you determine if they are culturally authentic and accurate?

There is a discussion on the WOW Blog (Worlds of Words). Dr. Kathy Short is currently facilitating a conversation about the quality of published book reviews, particularly in the area of cultural authenticity and accuracy. This topic should be of great interest to practicing and preservice librarians engaged in collection development and literature integration:
