using text alerts for overdue notifications

Is anyone using email or text or email alerts for communicating overdue material notices?

I am have used txtblaster.com in the past for smaller groups (under a 100 students), but would like to find out how others might be implementing more digital communications.

We also have access to Vision (a blackboard of sorts) software in which messages can be sent.

Thanks for your input!

  • hi! am not a school librarian instead I’m an academic librarian and we are also having a problem on how to notify students with overdue library materials. we have 29,000 students (undergrad ad graduate students). i would also like to hear a suggestion on on how can we notify students ASAP. thanks and more power to everyone.
  • No, If I understand correctly, Destiny is part of Follett? We use Sirsi Dynix (Horizon), but I don't believe our system has the package that includes that feature.
  • Are you using Destiny by chance? If so, you can send email alerts very easily with it. We send email alerts to our staff, but haven't done so with students as of yet.
