Smart Board lessons for K-5

I am getting a SmartBoard in the elementary school where I Librarian.  I am having a hard time finding some really great lessons for K-5 library skills.  If you have some and would like to share, I am very grateful.  On the flip side, if I find some really great lessons, I will share on this site as well.  Thanks!

  • Order in the Library works well.  I'm also putting together a flipchart where you have to put the books in the correct part of the library and get a fanfare when they do it correctly.  I like to show how to use the catalog and research tools with it--and I let the students get up and do things as often as possible.
  • I don't have a smart board yet.But what i do is think of library themes for each fortunight and these themes are in line with what children learn in class.Foreaxample if the kindergarterners are learning pets for that week.I would research about pets, collect pictures of different pets and prepare a powerpoint presention on my computer. And i would show to them. This can be accompanied with rhymes about pets

I think this can come out better on a smart board.

  • I've been working with a SmarBoard for 3 years. I'm assuming that you are looking for notebook lessons; is that correct. I've used the Notebook mostly for notetaking lessons and have a couple of organizers for various research reports we do in our curricula. Is that what you're looking for? Completely fleshed out lessons with standards, essential questions, etc., etc. I only have 1 of with the Notebook software. Let me know if that's what you're looking for. I'm assuming you've already checked out the resources at SmartTech. If not, they're worth a look.
  • Same here!! I'm new at a k-5 school and have a smartboard. Any lessons to share would be great!!
