ISO NEW ARRIVALS template, memo, etc.

Hello All,

I'd like to be more diligent in more regularly sharing new titles with our faculty.

What formats work well for you and your faculty?  Simple lists by title?  Fiction, Non-fiction? Dewey categories? genre lists?

I'd like it to be easy to digest, helpful, but I do not have a lot of time to sift and filter. This would be anywhere from 35-100 titles.

Thank you

  • Dear Elaine

Hi there! i have been using Shelfari for some time and find it ideal for this kind of thing. it is easy to add titles (What i also like is that you can choose the dust-jacket which you like and not neccessarily the cover of the one in your library-great for selling classics to the boys!). also, if staff click on the cover of the book they get taken to a blurb and reviews by various shelfari users. You can check out our libraray's shelf at http://www.shelfari.com/o1518113438?WidgetId=66478

    • I also noticed that it Shelfari/Librarything have mostly popular non-fiction, fiction, etc.  Not so much of your k-12 school publishers, or other series.

    • Andrew, I noticed that Librarything has caps on number of items, even with paid services.  Do you know if Shelfari has something similiar?  We wouldn't reach capacity (5000 items) in a year, but if we began adding existing titles it would beceome a problem.

I am in a high school library of about16,000 volumes, and we have a very outdated circ system that doesn't have the news bells of whistles.

    • Andrew, I like your suggestion.  I am familiar with Shelfari and Librarything, but only superficially.  How would Librarything differ from using Shelfari?
