We just got some great books in the library about supporting gay and lesbian students/families and their allies, and I don't just want to put them on the shelf. I would like to "launch" them in some way and am looking for ideas.
Thanks
Jane

Thank you Julie for your thoughts. I like the idea of connecting the launch with civil rights. However, I teach in Canada and we do not have a formal Martin Luther King day. Although, that doesn't mean I can still launch the books with civil rights in mind.....
I would have done it to promote gay and lesbian pride month--but that is in June. National Family Month is celebrated during the five-week period between Mother's Day in May and Father's Day in June--but that is probably to late in the school year. Human Rights month was in December.
I would probably launch them in connection with Martin Luther King and the celebration of civil rights for all.
