Facebook in the middle school library?

Hello!  I am thinking about implementing Facebook in the middle school library to promote events, new titles, programming, and other topics of library interest.

Has anyone already done this?  What are the benefits?  What are the hurdles?  Do you have any advice?

Thanks so much!

  • What about Edmodo? have you tried that ever? I am going to go to a class about using it. Our district supports that for school events and pages. I don't know much about it though

    • One of my colleagues is using it...I've already (!) done the Facebook page, and it is what my district is using, too, so that's why I am going for it!

  • First thing I would suggest is checking with your admin to make sure it is ok!

    • Yes, she's already given me the go-ahead.  Thank you!

      • Also, I meant to reply more earlier but then had to quickly leave

      • I think that is would be a great idea. It's free. It's something the students all use and love... why not tap into what they already know and do?? :)

I have not done it, though I do have one for the LIteracy Council I am president of. I like that you can create an event and invite all your members as well as make it a public event if you want.
