Best Technology for Elementary Library?

I am lucky enough to have a great technology department in my district. Throughout the year they have been very supportive of my library program and we have received great tools such as the iPad, 7 Nooks, a new computer lab, an ELMO, and some flip cameras.

However, I was offered the opportunity to receive even more technology and am to make my request as soon as possible. I am thinking of asking for more iPads so that teachers can borrow them, but are there any other technologies out there that you think would be an asset to a school library? My building is K-6.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)

  • Kerra, have you figured anything out on what your going to get?

  • I would definitely say a set of tablets that can travel around the school.  I really want this in my school as well!  What about software?  Could that be included or is it just hardware?

  • I definitely think that more iPads would benefit the library, due its endless applications and capabilities. Other technology ideas would be to get iPods. Although they are smaller, they are cheaper so you would be able to get more technology available to lend to teachers. Laptop computers would also be of great use for the entire school. You can upload specific softwares, and make them available to the staff. Its great to hear that you have such a supportive technology department.
