Anyone set up a social network for kids to share summer reading?

I hear that Shelfari, Library Thing and GoodReads are good platforms but does anyone know if these can be made "safe" for students?

You can set the KidBlog preferences to control access and preview and approve all posts. Or you can allow students to engage in a less restrictive environment.
